My previous phone was an iPhone 6 Plus. My iPhone 7 Plus just arrived. Backed up my iPhone 6 Plus to my iMac Have done this prior to today as well so it was just what I usually do. Deleted all settings on my iPhone 6 Plus unfortunate mistake then proceeded to connect my iPhone 7 Plus to my iMac so I could put the backup on it. I was then asked for the password to restore my new iPhone with the backup from my iPhone 6 Plus. Like many others I don't recall setting this password. I appreciate I can continue to guess the password which I will continue to do but I am trying to search for alternatives as well. I don't recall having problems last time I changed phones which was when I went from an iPhone 5 to iPhone 6 Plus back in 2014. My backup currently sits on my iMac and of course I can't access it. As well as this the password would have had to be relatively simple Which I believe it probably would have been as I don't really make super complex passwords for the software to get the password else it could take years apparently. Is there any available software compatible with Mac that I could use to recover the password. If there isn't any software available on Mac, is there a way I can transfer the backup from Mac to Windows and get the recovery software on Windows instead. Even if trial software could give me the first character of the password it would get me on the right track for sure. Hi, I don't think that there is a way to encrypt your password. If this is the case, you could find it in the Mac application Keychain and look for iPhone. You will see the iPhone backup password in clear text. Weren't your photos back up on your Mac?.
